NBR Manufacturers Troubled by Rubber Deflashing Problems & STMC Liquid Nitrogen Cryogenic Deflashing Solution

Many nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) manufacturers are plagued by troublesome deflashing issues. Slow manual trimming fails to meet production capacity requirements, and tiny burrs on precision components cannot be thoroughly removed, which has become a critical bottleneck restricting order profitability. STMC (Nanjing Zhaoling Precision) has focused on cryogenic deflashing for decades. Its proprietary liquid nitrogen cryogenic deflashing technology effectively solves industrial pain points with high efficiency and high precision, helping numerous rubber manufacturers resolve deflashing challenges completely.

Why NBR Factories Get Stuck in a Dilemma Over Deflashing

NBR features high flexibility and elasticity, leading to strongly adhered burrs on parting lines, pinholes and grooves. Conventional deflashing methods carry obvious drawbacks: In terms of production efficiency, manual trimming requires massive labor with limited daily output, causing frequent delivery delays for bulk orders. Mechanical blade trimming easily leads to material adhesion and machine blockage; hidden burrs demand secondary rework and prolong production cycles. Regarding processing precision, inconsistent manual trimming force often results in rejected products from over-cutting or leftover burrs. High heat generated during polishing damages the sealing performance of NBR parts with unstable finished product yield, failing strict quality inspection standards for automotive precision componen

Liquid Nitrogen Cryogenic Deflashing: All-in-one High-efficiency & High-precision NBR Deburring Solution

Based on ultra-low temperature principle of -196°C liquid nitrogen, cryogenic deflashing removes burrs via cold embrittlement. It makes full use of the differing cold embrittlement periods between bulk NBR substrate and thin flash owing to thickness variance to realize damage-free precision trimming and revolutionize traditional deflashing techniques: Workpieces are sealed inside the equipment chamber and rapidly chilled to -80℃ ~ -140℃ by liquid nitrogen. Ultra-thin flash ranging from 0.01mm to 0.2mm turns brittle under low temperature while thick NBR base retains original elasticity and physical properties. Specially-made nylon pellets are then blasted at high speed to shatter and strip brittle flash. Residual burr debris is collected centrally through a negative-pressure filtering system without scratching or damaging component bodies.

Improved Production Efficiency

1. Automatic batch processing:

STMC independently developed Jishe series cryogenic deflashing machines process 20~50kg NBR products per batch within 10~15 minutes. One single machine equals the output of 6~12 skilled manual workers. Operators can manage 2~3 units via full-automatic PLC control, cutting labor cost by over 70%.

2. Full-spec compatibility with zero rework:

The equipment thoroughly eliminates concealed burrs inside cavities, slots and blind holes of O-rings, special-shaped oil seals and thin-wall NBR spare parts in one pass, eliminating supplementary manual trimming. Post-processing productivity rises 3~5 times to support large-volume orders from automotive and overseas clients.

3. Space-saving layout:

Each machine occupies less than 10 square meters, replacing dozens of square meters of manual assembly lines and freeing up workshop space for vulcanization capacity expansion.

Standardized High-precision Machining
1. Micron-level trimming accuracy:

Precise temperature control locks critical embrittlement temperature of NBR to clean off micro flash as thin as 0.01mm. Finished dimensional tolerance is controlled within 0.03mm with no residual burrs or over-cut damage. Product yield climbs from 75% under conventional processing to above 99.2%, complying with access requirements of new energy and auto precision component industries.

2. Consistent batch quality:

Saved fixed equipment parameters guarantee identical processing for same-spec NBR products, eliminating instability caused by manual operation and ensuring uniform appearance and dimension across entire batches to pass incoming quality inspection of downstream buyers.

3. Preserved original rubber performance:

No frictional heat is produced in low-temperature processing, protecting NBR’s inherent elasticity and oil resistance without edge aging, thus securing long-term sealing service life of finished goods.
